Information and updates for Galehead’s Grandview Solar Project and Crow’s Roost Solar Project in Pueblo County, Colorado

Project Information

Galehead Development, LLC (Galehead) is proposing to construct and operate two separate projects in Pueblo County (the Projects). The Grandview Solar Project is a proposed 250-megawatt (MW) alternating current utility-scale solar energy facility and an approximately 250-MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in a rural area of Pueblo County. The Crow's Roost Solar Project is a proposed 175-MW alternating current utility-scale solar energy facility and an approximately 175-MW BESS in a rural area of Pueblo County. The Grandview Solar Project would encompass approximately 1,930 acres of privately-owned land in Pueblo County. The Crow's Roost Solar Project would encompass approximately 956 acres of privately-owned land in Pueblo County. Project components would include an alternating current solar energy facility and a BESS. The Projects will also include construction and operation of two Project collector substations (i.e., one for each project) that will act as the interconnection points for the low-voltage collection lines serving the Projects. The Grandview Project will interconnect at a to-be-built switching station along Segment 4 (Harvest Mile to Tundra) of the Colorado Power Pathway operated by Xcel Energy. The Crow's Roost Project will interconnect at a to-be-built switching station along Segment 5 (Tundra to May Valley) of the Colorado Power Pathway operated by Xcel Energy. Surface-disturbing activities, including final grading, will be required to allow for the development of the Projects. Operational activities, namely mowing vegetation and cleaning of the solar panels may be required for routine maintenance. Other facilities on the Project sites may include a temporary construction laydown yard, a temporary staging area for panels and other equipment, temporary parking areas, and private gravel access roads. If approved, both Projects would be expected to begin construction in the middle 2026 with commercial operation targeted by the end of 2027. The up to 425 megawatts of sustainable energy to be produced by the Projects is enough to power approximately 70,000 average American homes. 1

Galehead is submitting applications for Pueblo County 1041 Permits for the proposed Projects in accordance with House Bill 1041 regulations (HB 74-1041). In support of these permits, and to comply with federal and state regulations, Galehead has conducted a variety of resource surveys. In addition to surveys for natural resources like wetlands, and although not required for these permits, Galehead has surveyed for the presence of archaeological sites, historic buildings and structures, and isolated cultural resources in the Project areas.
